Hiking trips in northern Patagonia

Chall Huaco is an amazing 2000 m above sea level mountain, from its summit you get excellent views to the whole Bariloche surrounding region, specially to the East Patagonia Steppe area. Lenga (nothofagus) forests and Amancay flowers are the perfect setting for this hike so near Bariloche city.

Season: All year round. In winter time we go with snowshoes

Itinerary:
Challhuaco mountain is located at the Southeast of Nahuel Huapi National Park, Bariloche, in Challhuaco valley starts our hike. Neumeyer mountain hut it is our starting point, Lenga forest and Amancay flowers make beautiful this place.

The hiking trail is not steep, we encounter little lagoons on our way up, the vegetation gets smaller and bushy like and the terrain gets rocky. Hiking over a ridge we get a wide panoramic view of the region. We continue trekking through a high Andean flora region with very small vegetation, low and with small leaves. In Autumn time the colors are very strong and lively with many different hues.

At the summit of Challhuaco mountain we get a wonderful view far away, specially to the South of patagonian area with a series of mountains and valleys. When we return we pass along a green lagoon called Verde, with a special green color so it is worth to do this detour hike. When we get to the Neumeyer mountain hut, down in the Challhuaco valley an afternoon snack is waiting for us so we can relax for a while until we start our way back to the city of Bariloche by car.

Included: Mountain guide, private shuttle services, all the meals during the program (breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner) energy supplements and snacks, hot beverages, non alcoholic beverages. technical equipment, if needed (snowshoes, crampons, piolets, etc), first aid kit, communications equipment and mobile phone, insurance (not medical insurance)

Not Included: airplane tickets or other transfer services not included in the program, alcoholic beverages, personal gear, everything not mentioned as INCLUDED

Personal equipment - clothing: Oversized, loose, soft clothing, small backpack (fanny or day pack type), trekking shoes or sneakers, hat (baseball cap) and warm hat, sunglasses, sunblock lotion
