Argentina map - Patagonia Patagonia is located at the South end of American continent, Argentina, with almost 3,8 million square Km, extends from se extiende desde el trópico de Capricorn tropic line to the South pole.

The Andes cordillera mountain ridge covers the West side of the country. Mount Aconcagua (6959 mts), the ceiling of America, it is the highest mountain in the American continent and also a highly desired summit for many climbers from all over the world. At the East the Atlantic ocean washes its coasts.

The topography and climate of Argentina it is very varied offering many different options for active tourism and cultural exchange.

Buenos Aires, Argentine capital city, is the most cosmopolitan city in South America.

Patagonia is the biggest and most beautiful region of this country. Amazing steppes, lonely landscapes, huge lakes, glaciers and mountain ridges.

Northern Patagonia is the region which hosts the lake district and worldwide known national parks: “ Nahuel Huapi”, “Lanin” and“Los Alerces”, each one with unique attractive landscape.

The indigenous forest is dominated by a kind of Notofagus, known as Lenga with beautiful copper color leafs in autumn season, as well as the Coihues kind of notofagus which grows by the crystal clear lake waters. Guarding the mountain summits of the Andes we find the local birds condors with typical white collar.

Volcan Lanin - Patagonia ArgentinaThe most important cities in the Northern Patagonia area are: San Martin de los Andes, Bariloche, Villa La Angostura, El Bolsón and Esquel.

The most important volcanoes mountain summits in the region are Domuyo volcano (the highest mountain in northern Patagonia with 4700 mts, in the cordillera de los vientos), the Lanin volcano and Mount Tronador.

In the lake district there are the lakes Huechulafquen, Lacar, Nahuel Huapi, Mascardi, Puelo, Cholila, Rivadavia, Menéndez and Futalaufquen. There are also some important rivers known for water sports such as kayaking and rafting as well as fly fishing options: Aluminé, Limay, Manso y Corcovado.

mutisia - Patagonia ArgentinaThe Villarrica volcano near Pucón in Chile, along with Osorno and Punteagudo volcanoes sparkle the mountain ridge landscape of the cordillera de los Andes stretching to the Pacific ocean. the most important river in the area bellow line 42º South latitude is the Futaleufú, worldwide known by its whitewater rafting and kayaking rapids.

The South Patagonia region of the Cordillera has the snow-capped summit of San Lorenzo, the first ascent was made by Padre de Agostini, the area is located now in the Perito Moreno national park.

Cerro Torre Trekking - Patagonia ArgentinaFurther south, we find the cerro Torre and the Fitz Roy massive by Chalten town, known as the Trekking capital of Argentina and the ice cap shared by both Argentina and Chile.

Near el Calafate by the Argentina are the Perito Moreno and Upsala glaciers among other smaller but worldwide importance by it size and the only in the world which are not getting smaller as years go by.

The Paine towers in Chile and trekking path circuits attract thousand of foreigner tourist every summer at the other side of the Andes.

Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world located by the Beagle channel impacts by the great mountains ending in the Ocean. It is hosting nowadays an important cruising traffic to the Antarctic continent, with ships coming from all over the world.

The most important route in Patagonia is the Mythical Route 40, where endless views mix with travelogues and ever blowing west wind flows you to a timeless patch in the world where you can discover the real vastness of Patagonia.

By land: 1630 km from Bs A, 750 km from Pto. Madryn , 1660 km from Calafate , 2200 km from Ushuaia , 190 from San Martín de los Andes and 250 km from Osorno ( Chile ) through “Paso Cardenal Samoré ”.

By water: through “Cruce de Lagos”, crossing the lakes from Pto Montt – Peullla ( Chile ) by “ Paso Perez Rosales”-
