Day 1:
On arrival, you will be met at the Airport in San Martín de los Andes and transferred to your hotel / Inn. After being introduced to the mountain guides, there is a briefing on the expedition and the gear is checked. Welcome Dinner.
D – Deluxe Inn
Day 2:
After breakfast, you are picked up at the Inn and transferred to the base of the Lanin Volcano at 1100 m.a.s.l (Paso Tromen) located at 100 Km from San Martin de los Andes. Very early in the morning, we start our trek upwards through a Lenga forest, across volcanic terrain and then along a rocky ridge called "Espina de Pescado" (Fish Bone) that further forks to a rocky area and leads to the mountain huts ( 2300 m.a.s.l / 7550 feet). We have lunch and relax. In the afternoon, we go on a short hike near the hut to practice and/or refresh mountaineering skills, glacier trekking, climbing safety techniques, get ourselves acquainted with the mountain and ice gear for the following day, etc.
B, L, S & D – Mountain hut
Day 3:
We have a good breakfast in the early morning (at 3- 4 a.m.) before we set off on our summit attempt. This day is the toughest of all since we trek on different kinds of snow, rocky and stony terrain. We will only carry our backpacks with food, beverages and warm clothing. After lunch at the summit of the Lanin Volcano ( 3776 m.a.s.l), enjoying spectacular views of the Andes and the Chilean Volcanoes: Villarica, Llaima, Quetrupillan, we start descending to the mountain shelter and then to the base. Transfer to San Martín de los Andes. Celebration Dinner at a restaurant in San Martín de los Andes.
B, L, S & D – Deluxe Inn
