From the summit of cerro Otto you have amazing 360° views, there are also beautiful trails through Lengas (nothofagus pumilio - kind of beech tree) forests, panoramic viewpoints and we also visit a mountain hut that keeps track on the regional mountain history.

Itinerary:
We start at San Carlos de Bariloche city. Leaving the city behind, the first kilometer is on paved road, then we detour to a gravel road, constantly winding up at a steady pace. As we ascent the view starts to widen to all sides seeing the great Nahuel Huapí lake at our feet, the Cuyín Manzano ridge, the steppe and the Andean cordillera.

On the way we pass along the rock formations, boulders called Piedras Blancas (white rocks) where climbers train and learn their first steps in the climbing sport. When we reach the summit we have a great view to the South, where you are able to see the majestic Mount Tronador among other mountain ridges. From there we can go to a panoramic view point on a trail that goes through Lengas forest (nothofagus pumilio).

On our way back we rest for a while and have an afternoon snack at the Berghof mountain hut. This mountain hut encloses the mountain history of the region, with a museum room we may discover the local pioneers in mountaineering, climbing and skiing.
